#### Why Do I Need This?

Two-factor authentication adds an additional layer of security to your Seton Hall account, helping prevent unauthorized access even if your password is compromised. Duo requires you to verify your identity using a second authentication method when signing in to Seton Hall systems.

If you receive a Duo Push notification when you are not actively signing in, deny the request and report it to the Technology Service Desk at [servicedesk@shu.edu](mailto:servicedesk@shu.edu) or (973) 275-2222.

<details>
<summary>Who is required to use Duo Two-Factor Authentication?</summary>

All Seton Hall students, faculty and staff are required to use Duo two-factor authentication when accessing University systems that require authentication, whether on or off campus.
</details>

<details>
<summary>Does Duo see my password?</summary>

No. Seton Hall verifies your password through University systems and does not send it to Duo. Duo provides the second authentication step used to verify your identity when you sign in.
</details>

<details>
<summary>How long do I have to enroll in Duo?</summary>

New users will receive an enrollment email from Duo Security and should complete the enrollment process as soon as possible. The enrollment link is valid for **30 days**, with reminder emails sent if enrollment is not completed.

If the enrollment link expires, a new enrollment link will be generated and emailed to you.

<summary>What devices can I use with Duo?</summary>

Duo Mobile can be installed on a compatible smartphone or tablet and used to verify your identity with Duo Push or a passcode generated in the app. You can enroll multiple devices in Duo and manage them through the **Duo 2FA** app in PirateNet.

<summary>What happens if I lose or replace my phone?</summary>

If you lose your phone or suspect it has been stolen, contact the Technology Service Desk immediately at **(973) 275-2222** or [servicedesk@shu.edu](mailto:servicedesk@shu.edu) for assistance securing your Duo account.

If you replace your phone but keep the same phone number, you may need to reactivate Duo Mobile on the new device. Visit [Manage Devices in Duo](https://servicedesk.shu.edu/space/PUBLICKBA/2096103459/Manage+Devices+in+Duo) for instructions.

<details>
<summary>Does it cost me money to use Duo Mobile?</summary>

Duo Push uses a small amount of internet data when you approve a login request. You can also generate a passcode directly in the Duo Mobile app without using cellular data or Wi-Fi.
</details>

<details>
<summary>What if I don’t have a data plan on my phone?</summary>

You can use Duo Mobile even without a cellular data plan or Wi-Fi connection. The app can generate a passcode on your device that you can enter when prompted to verify your identity.
</details>

<details>
<summary>Can I use the Duo app internationally?</summary>

Yes. Duo Mobile can generate a passcode without a cellular or Wi-Fi connection, allowing you to authenticate while traveling internationally. If you have an internet connection, you can also use Duo Push to approve your login request.
</details>

<details>
<summary>How can I add, remove or update a device?</summary>

You can manage your enrolled devices through the **Duo 2FA** app in PirateNet. The self-service app allows you to add or remove a device or reactivate Duo Mobile on an existing device.
