### Teaching, Learning and Technology Center Course Migration

The TLTC has partnered with a third-party vendor (K16) to migrate courses from Blackboard to Canvas. The K16 migration process will migrate the most recent version of Blackboard courses taught in Fall 2022, Winter 2023, Spring 2023 and Summer 2023. However, courses with little to no content or interactions will not be migrated. For example, courses with only announcements or a single file (i.e syllabus) posted will not be moved.

Additionally, only the course content will be migrated - no student data (i.e.: student submitted assignments, grades, feedback, discussion posts/replies, performance data). During the migration process every effort is made to identify matching functionality between Blackboard and Canvas. Each piece of your course content will be carefully migrated as cleanly and completely as possible. However, there may be instances where functionality doesn't quite match, requiring you to conduct a [post-migration review](https://servicedesk.shu.edu/space/PUBLICKBA/2369978370/Canvas+Course+Post-Migration) and make adjustments accordingly.

### Migrate A Course Yourself

You may choose to migrate course content into a sandbox site on your own. Depending on the complexity of your course content structure, you may have to do some content reorganization. This is a good opportunity to re-evaluate your course structure.

Start by [requesting a sandbox site](https://setonhall.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/4/create/170). Once you have your sandbox, you can start moving the content over. ### No Migration – Start Fresh in Canvas

With the transition to Canvas, it may be time to evaluate your content to ensure that it is still recent and relevant to your course. Additionally, you may find that there are new interactive or collaborative tools that you’d like to incorporate into your course to increase engagement. If you’d prefer to recreate the course the way you want from a blank site, [request a sandbox site](https://setonhall.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/4/create/170) to start developing your content in Canvas.
