This guide will help you export content from your Blackboard course and import it into your Canvas course.

### Export Content from Blackboard

1. Log into [PirateNet](https://www.shu.edu/piratenet.html) and click on the Blackboard app.
2. Navigate to the course from which you would like to **export** content.
3. In the left navigation column, scroll down to the **Course Management** section, expand the **Control Panel**, click on **Packages & Utilities**, and select **Export/Archive Course.**
  
4. Click on the **Export Package** option.
  
5. Select all or select specific content by **checking the boxes** next to the items (e.g. content areas, discussion boards, tests, surveys, etc.)
6. Click on **Submit.  **You will get a success message at the top of the screen, followed by an email notifying you that you can download your export file from the **Control Panel**.
  
7. Once you receive the email, navigate back to your Blackboard course, click on the **Control Panel** in the left navigation column.
8. Select **Package and Utilities**. Then, under **Packages Created Manually**, select the file that was just created to download it to your computer.  You can identify this file by the current timestamp of the export.

### Import Content into Canvas

1. Log into **Canvas** via [PirateNet ](https://www.shu.edu/piratenet.html)and navigate to the course for which you would like to perform the import.
2. Click on **Import Existing Content** in the sidebar.
  
3. From the **Content Type** dropdown menu, select the **Blackboard 6/7/8/9 Ultra export .zip file** option.
4. Click **Choose File** and locate the exported Blackboard zip file on your computer. Then, click **Open**.
5. Select to import either **All Content** or **Select Specific Content**.
  1. If selecting specific content, place a check mark in the box next to **Adjust events and due dates**. Also, select the **Remove dates** option.
    
6. Click the **Import **button.
7. If selecting specific content:
  1. Click the **Select Content** button which appears next to the line that begins with Blackboard Learn.
  2. Check the boxes next to the specific content you want to import.
    1. Clicking the arrow at the far left of any content type will open a list of specific contents.
    2. You can check those boxes separately if you do not want all contents of those types.
  3. Click the **Select Content** button.
8. On the following screen, the **Current Jobs** section will show you the progress of the import. Once completed, you may refresh the screen.
